Yankees Christmas Wish List

After being defeated in the controversial ALCS against the Houston Astros, the Yankees fell a round short of competing for a championship in 2019. Now a team that has won 100 plus games in back to back seasons is set to take part in what’s predicted to be a high priced offseason for potential free agents. With money and MLB restrictions not being a problem for Santa Claus, the Yankees are writing a letter to St. Nick in hopes of getting the players they should target in pinstripes.
Gerrit Cole: The present that most Yankees fans would want under the tree and in his Yankees pajamas would be Gerrit Cole. As likely the best pitcher in MLB and a Yankees fan as a kid, Cole being a Yankee and the highest paid pitcher in the league should be a goal for both Cole’s and New York’s teams and should become a reality. In a rotation that includes Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, James Paxton, Domingo German and an already deadly bullpen with Aroldis Chapman signing an extension to stay the with club, the Yankees will have arguably the best pitching squad in the majors. It’s also a blow to the Houston Astros who would lose him and make an American League contender a star better. Gerrit Cole would instantly make the Yankees World Series favorites if signed and wrapped in a ribbon for the Yankees.
Mookie Betts: Could you just imagine the face of your favorite Red Sox fan if Boston can’t keep the star outfielder and he ended up in New York? With Gardner a free agent and an aging player, Aaron Hicks suffering injuries last season, partnering up Betts with Aaron Judge in the outfield would be second to none if the move was made. The star is still in his prime years and would fit right in positionally. We can wish and the look on Red Sox’s fans all over the world would be priceless.
Gleyber Torres Growth Spurt: In possibly one of the best Sophomore campaigns in recent memory, it seemed like everyday was Gleyber Day this past season. At 22 years old, the young superstar’s development is trending upwards and there’s really no signs that he’s slowing down. A fan favorite and star, the Yankees found themselves a gem and must retain him for the future of the franchise.
