With Fitzpatrick out of the game, the Dolphins need to win Sunday
By Steve Risser
Yesterday, Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick tested positive for COVID-19, which makes him unavailable for Sunday game against the Bills. Even though he wasn’t going to start, this is still a loss for the Dolphins because they would not be in the position that there in right now without him. Last week with over 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter, with the Dolphins down 3, Fitzpatrick replaced Tua at QB and he was outstanding going 9 for 13 throwing for 182 yards. He miraculously lead the Dolphins down the field for the game winning field goal. What has been so impressive this year with Fitzpatrick and Tua is how they handled this situation. In the middle of the season, the Dolphins were 3–3. They had won 2 in a row, Fitzpatrick had played well and they decided to go to Tua. The 2 other times while Tua was the starting, he was benched during the game in favor of Fitzpatrick. Every time there has been a change, both of them have been supportive of the decision of head coach Brian Flores and they have also been supportive of each other. That’s why if the Dolphins were do get down on Sunday, Tua would not have a problem with Fitz coming in to replace him and that’s why it’s definitely a loss not having Fitzpatrick available. Lastly, I think the Dolphins win the game because I’m not sure if the Bills will play their starters, seeing that there’s not much of a difference in getting the 2 or 3 seed, but either way, it would have been nice to have had the old gun slinger and journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick available.
