Why the Mets have won the offseason so far
By Steve Risser
Yesterday, the Mets made a huge trade acquiring Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco from the Indians for Andres Gimenez, Amed Rosario, Josh Wolf and Isaiah Green. The Mets getting Lindor and Carrasco not only gives them a shot to compete in the NL East, but it gives them a chance to win the whole thing. Lindor will give this line up to another guy who can hit for power. He had 3 seasons in Cleveland where he hit over 30 HR’s and with him, Alonso, and Conforto. The Mets should be one of the top teams in Home Runs. Carlos Carrasco adds another arm to a rotation that is already solid with DeGrom, Stroman and Syndergaard who’s coming off Tommy John surgery and should be back by June. Carrasco’s career record is 83–77 with an ERA of 3.77 and since 2014, in all but one year, he’s pitched to an era under 4. With Steve Cohen becoming the owner of the Mets, we knew they were going to be aggressive. They were this week and don’t be surprised if they sign either George Springer or Trevor Bauer, as well.
