Why the Dodgers are the biggest winners in this year’s Trade Deadline
By: Steve Risser
This year’s tradeline was one of the busiest in years as 10 all-stars were traded at the deadline. However, I think there was one team that stood above the rest and that was the Dodgers. There are 2 reasons why they won this year’s trade deadline. One was they went out and traded for Max Scherzer, who is one of top pitchers in baseball and it fills a hole in their rotation with the strong possibly of Trevor Bauer not being back for the rest of the season. In the Scherzer deal, the Dodgers also got Trea Turner to add to their lineup. Even though the Dodgers have Cory Seager and Turner’s main position is shortstop, Turner also has experience playing other positions as well he played centerfield and 2nd base in his early days with the Nationals. He is probably going to have to do that with the Dodgers. Lastly, even though the Giants are 3 games ahead of the Dodgers, I think these 2 additions will help the Dodgers win the NL West and then eventually help them win their 2nd straight World Series title.
