On Thursday, the Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Colts for a 3rd round pick in 2021 and a 2nd round pick 2022 which can become a first round pick. I think this a great trade for the Colts and they might have finally found their franchise QB that they’ve been looking for since Andrew Luck retired. There are 3 reasons why getting traded to the Colts is the best thing that could happen to him. One is that he will be reunited with Head Coach Frank Reich, who was his offensive coordinator in 2016 and 2017 with the Eagles. In 2017, Carson Wentz had the best season of his career by far. He threw for 33 TD’s and had 7 INT’s and had a passer rating 101.9. More importantly, he lead the Eagles to the top seed in the NFC with an 11–2 recorded, but unfortunately in week 14 of that year, he suffered an ACL injury in his left knee and missed the rest of the season. Despite the fact that the Colts don’t have a true number 1 receiver, they have a good running game a great offensive line and that is really going to help Wentz. Rookie Johnathan Taylor was 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards and for the last 3 years the Colts have had one of the best offensive lines in football. Lastly, this trade is great for Wentz because the Colts have a top ten defense Darius Leonard and Deforest Buckner are 2 of the best players in their positions. In 2020, the Colts defense was 8th in total yards allowed, 10th in points allowed and outside of the Bucs there was not a defense that was better against the run. In my opinion, this move clearly makes the Colts a playoff team and they have a really good chance to win the AFC South.
