The New York Yankees set a couple of MLB team home run records against the Baltimore Orioles in a 3-game sweep, while they also tied the major league record with 16 HRs in a 3-game series.

The Yankees have hit an astonishing 52 home runs against Orioles’ pitching this this season, including 43 at Camden Yards (where they are 10–0), with 4 more games a Yankee Stadium next week.

But, the Yankees aren’t just feasting on bad pitching and awful teams. The Bronx Bombers are 75–39, a .658 winning percentage that is tied with the LA Dodgers, who are 77–40, for the best record in the majors. The Yanks are the only MLB team who haven’t lost 40 games on the year as they head to Toronto for a 4 game series.

The Yankees are a very good team, and despite the obvious flaws of the starting rotation, they are very tough to beat. New York has 35 comeback wins and are the only team with a record of .500 or above, at 23–21 (.523) when their opponent scores first. No lead is safe against these guys, who have withstood an unprecedented amount of injuries in 2019, but haven’t missed a beat in the W Column.

The Yankees are 37–18 against winning teams in 2019. That is the best record in the Majors. 38–21 against bad teams. They rise to the occasion.

The 2019 New York Yankees are now just the 18th team in franchise history to have at least 75 wins through first 114 games of the season.

16 of the 17 made it to the World Series.

14 of those 16 were World Series Champs.

The Yankees are 8–0 since the trade deadline passed and they didn’t add another starter. Some fans and experts said the Yankees season was done by standing pat, especially after the Houston Astros acquired Zack Grienke.

But, the Yankees are 11–0 in opener games this season, a strategy they can employ in the post-season. Dellin Betances, Luis Severino and Chad Green would be tough openers in a short series.

While James Paxton sports an 11.37 ERA in the first inning, he’s got a 2.93 ERA in all other innings, making him a no-brainer candidate to have an opener.

Yankees are 21–0 when Adam Ottavino, Tommy Kahnle, Zack Britton and Aroldis Chapman all pitch in the same game this season. The Yankees need to get just 5 innings to reach that dominant bridge. A mix of starters, openers, and effective long-relief arms like Jonathon Holder and Nestor Cortes, Jr make the Yankees a tough team to beat on any given night.

The Yankees don’t have the starting rotation the Astros have, but they certainly have the right weapons to beat Houston in a 7 game series!
