The Lions Need to Clean House
By Steve Risser
On Thanksgiving, the Lions got crushed in the Texan’s 41–25 game yesterday and didn’t tell us anything we didn’t know already. Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia need to be fired immediately and they both should have been gone last year. Quinn became the Lions GM in 2016 and in his first 2 seasons, the Lions went 9–7 but after 2017, he fired Jim Caldwell and hired his buddy, Matt Patricia, who he worked with in New England. The Patricia era in Detroit has been a disaster. His first year, they went 6–10 and last year they started 3–3–1, but Stafford got hurt in the loss the next week and then went on to lose their next 8 games without Stafford to go 3–12–1. After last season, a good organization would have gotten rid of Quinn and Patricia, but the Lions aren’t a good organization, so they didn’t. A good organization would have drafted a QB with the number 3 overall pick. No offense to Stafford, he’s had a really good career, but when you have the chance to grab Tua or Herbert, you do it not take a corner who has not played well so far. In his 2 plus years in Detroit, Patricia’s record is 13–29–1 which means him, the GM who hired him and the QB need to go and the Lions need to start from scratch.
