Steve’s take on the Orlando Brown Trade
By Steve Risser
On Friday, the Ravens traded Orlando Brown to the Chiefs for a 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick this year, as well as a 5th round pick next year. Along with getting Brown, the Chiefs got a 2nd round pick this year and a 6th round pick next year. When I heard about this trade, I have to admit I was surprised that the Ravens would help a team that they need to beat to get to the Super Bowl. But, it is hard to doubt what the Ravens do. They are one of the best organizations in the league and I think what they want to do is address the needs they have at receiver and edge rusher in the first round. This is a great trade for the Chiefs, as we all know in the Super Bowl, their play at tackle was horrendous and they lost Eric Fisher and Michell Schwartz. They’re 2 starting tackles this offseason and they both missed the Super Bowl due to injury. With the addition of Joe Thuney and Eric Fisher, the Chiefs O-line should be good enough for their offense to be as good as it’s been the last 3 years. Additionally, Orlando Brown can play both right and left tackle because he played left tackle last year after Ronnie Stanley tore his ACL. Lastly, the big question is are the Chiefs going to sign Brown long term? They should franchise him after this season and I think after that they’re going to give him a long term deal and make him their left tackle of the future.
