Orioles for Dinner
The Yankees currently stand 10 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays, giving them a more than comfortable lead in the AL East as the the playoff push comes into sight. While the Rays are still in a position to compete for the Wild Card, the lowly Baltimore Orioles sit 37 games back with one of the worst records in the Majors (38–76)
During the 2019 season, the Yankees have cooked the Orioles, home and away! At Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the Bombers slammed 16 home runs, which tied the major league record in a 3-game series. Many times throughout the series, you could hear “Let’s go Yankees!” from the Yankee fans who traveled 200 miles to support their championship contenders.
The Yankees have won 15 straight at Camden Yards and are the second team to go 10–0 or better at a visiting ballpark since 1955. The five homers hit in the 14–2 victory Wednesday night bring the Yankees’ season total versus the O’s this year to 52, (43 at Camden Yards) which is the major league record for homers against a single opponent. What makes it more impressive, neither Gary Sanchez or Giancarlo Stanton took a single swing in the series (both players doing time on the IL.)
