In the 4 years before Matt Nagy became the head coach of the Bears they did not win more than 5 games in any of those seasons. In Nagy’s first season with the Bears they went 12–4 and won the NFC North last year they took a step back and went 8–8. But with last night win over, Tom Brady and the Bucs the Bears and 4–1 and are one of the surprise teams in the league.

There 3 reasons why Nagy should be a candidate for coach of the year; one is GM Ryan Pace has not given Nagy a ton of talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Their only good skill guy is Allen Robison, their offensive line is average, and they can’t run the football. David Montgomery has been a disappointment so far and most importantly, Mitch Trubisky has been a bust and Nick Foles is above average at best. This leads to my next point, which is Pace missed at the QB position worse than any could by passing on Patrick Mahomes and Desean Watson to trade up and take Trubisky, despite the QB issues the Bears have been able to win 4 games so far and in 3 of those wins they came back from more than 10 points down. In week one, they were down 23–6 in the 2nd half and Trubisky led them to a 27–23 win. In week 3, they were down 26–10 when Nagy benched Trubisky and Foles. Then lead them to a 30–26 win and last night, they were down 13–0 and Foles drove them down the field for the game winning field goal to win 20–19. Lastly, they have been able to win 4 games by 4 points or less and winning those games shows you that the Bears are well coached team.

The Bears have a very good chance to have a winning season and get one of the wild card spots and if they do both of those, Nagy should get serious consideration for coach of the year.
