K’s & L’s

The 2019 MLB season gave the Yankees a very favorable home field advantage by starting the first 6 games at Yankees Stadium, yet, the Bronx Bombers find themselves with a 2–4 record causing fans to become very concerned.
Strikeouts are a trend early in the season, as the Yankees are leaving wasted opportunities on the field. In a small sample size thus far, the Yankees lead the Majors with 65 strikeouts. They set a franchise worst 18 strikeouts in a 9-inning game in Wednesday 2–1 loss to the Tigers. All-Star Aaron Judge leads the team with 10 strikeouts with Greg Bird following at 9, Luke Voit (7), Gleyber Torres (6), Gary Sanches and Mike Tauchman (5), DJ Lemahieu, Giancarlo Stanton and Troy Tulowitzki. (4) With all four losses being decided by 2 runs or less, the opportunities wasted via strikeout are something the franchise must take notice of immediately.
Injuries have been a factor to the Yankees struggles. In Wednesday’s 2–1 loss to the Tigers, Troy Tulowitzki left the game due to a left calf strain. This comes after learning earlier this week that 24 year old third basemen Miguel Andujar could possibly require season-ending surgery after suffering a small labrum tear in his right shoulder. Giancarlo Stanton is also on a 10-day IL with a biceps strain. Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Dellin Betances and Luis Severino are among other injured stars.
In what seems to be a disappointing beginning to the season for Yankees fans, players feel for the game & the injuries will improve over time. With 156 games left in the season Yankees can turn things around, as they visit division rival Baltimore Orioles this upcoming weekend. #CMGPodcasts
