Going into the 2020 season, the New York Yankees are Las Vegas favorites to win the World Series after a whirlwind of events and drama surfaced in the offseason. With it being championship-or-bust as usual, the expectations are real this year and Manager Aaron Boone feels the pressure of delivering a title to The Bronx.

The Gerrit Cole signing was very significant in the tipping of the scale in favor of the Bombers. Not only did the team add an All-Star talent to their more than capable rotation but you also take him away from the rival Houston Astros who are dealing with life post sign-stealing scandal. Also, the Red Sox move of trading Mookie Betts (alongside David Price) to the Los Angeles Dodgers softened the A.L. East division which they won comfortably last year.

Aaron Boone has won 100+ games in his first two years as Manager, only manager in MLB history to do so, with 203 wins only trailing Ralph Houk (205) who managed the Yankees during 1961–1962. Only six teams in history have won 100+games in three consecutive season (Yankees twice) and no team has ever done it four times.

Success isn’t guaranteed in the Majors and expectations don’t win games. It’s up to Boone to work his manager magic and have this 2020 Yankees team ready to take the next step. Aaron Judge called last year’s season a “Failure” and anything that’s not a World Series appearance on Aaron Boone’s resume this season should also be considered the same.
