Huge series at Fenway this weekend
By Steve Risser
The Yankees and Red Sox come into this weekend holding both Wild Card spots. Boston has a 2-game lead on the Yanks, but if the Bombers can win this series, they have a really good chance of catching them.
On Friday, Gerrit Cole takes the mound against Nathan Eovaldi. The Yankees ace has struggled against the Red Sox in 2 of the 3 starts against them, pitching no more than 5 innings and lost both of those starts. On the flipside Eovaldi didn’t pitch poorly in any of his starts against the Yankees but the Sox did lose all of the games he started.
On Saturday, Nestor Cortez goes up against Nick Pivetta, Cortez has had a really good year but he did struggle in his one start against the Red Sox. Pivetta also struggled in his one start against the Yankees
going less then 2 innings.
On Sunday Night Jordan Montgomery goes up against Eduardo Rodriguez, Montgomery has struggled against the Red Sox this year with the Yankees going 1–3 in the games he’s started against them. On the other hand, Rodriguez has pitched well against the Yankees he’s pitched well in 3 of his 4 starts against them.
Both teams are coming in to this series hot the Red Sox have won 7 in a row and the Yankees just swept the Rangers it should be really interesting to see what happens this weekend at Fenway.
