On Saturday, the Giants signed Kenny Golladay to a 4 year 72 million dollar deal. This is very similar to when the Giants signed Plaxico Burress in 2005. There are 3 reasons why it is similar. One is, in 2005, the Giants had a young QB in Eli Manning who needed a number 1 WR and the Giants gave him that in Plaxico Burress. Going into 2021, the Giants have a young QB in Daniel Jones who needs a number 1 WR and they did that by signing Golladay. Another reason is they are built the same way and they are the same kind of receiver. Plaxico was 6–6 and was good and making contested catches and Golladay is 6–4 and very good at doing that, as well. Lastly, back in 2005, the Giants had a head coach in his 2nd year with Tom Coughlin who was trying to change the culture and he needed a big piece to improve their team and that was Plaxico Burress. The team went from 6–10 to 11–5 and won the division that year and 2 years later, Burress was a huge part of their Super Bowl championship team. Right now, Joe Judge is going into his 2nd season and is trying to change the culture and needs a really good player to help make them be competitive in the NFC. At the end of the day, it is going to be up to Daniel Jones to make this work and if he doesn’t play well this year, he won’t be the Giants QB of the future
