CC Sabathia Stamps his Ticket To Cooperstown
By Kyle Sheehan
When I think of CC Sabathia, I think an all-time Yankee great, a Cy Young Award Winner and World Series Champion. Now it’s time to add another title, sure fire Hall of Famer. As I was watching CC chase another milestone, I began to reminisce on all he has accomplished, not only as a Yankee, but as a Cleveland Indian as well, only to get interrupted by my buddies who are all Red Sox fans as they went on a tirade about how bad CC has become and the rough years he endured from 2014–2017. Well, all that stopped when he struck out John Ryan Murphy for his 3,000th career strikeout. The room when silent for a second, just enough time for me to get up and start cheering right in their faces. After my excitement calmed down, we began our discussion on whether CC truly is a Hall of Famer or not? So I hit them with these two stat lines:
247 wins, .616 win percentage, 3.69 ERA, 3002 K’s and 6 All Star appearances.
246 wins, .589 win percentage, 3.00 ERA, 2127 K’s, and 4 All Star appearances.
If you’re a huge CC fan then you know the first stat line his his career stats, the second is the average career for a pitcher inducted into the Hall of Game. So with that being said, CC thank you for the memories, I’ll see you in Cooperstown.
