Brothers in Arms
As if the domination against the Baltimore Orioles wasn’t impressive enough this season (17–2 record 61HR’s), the Yankees managed to reach another historic milestone. Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres’ bats continue to match those of Yankee greats.
With his 10th home run versus the Orioles in Wednesday nights 6–5 victory, Sanchez & Torres became the second pair of Yankees teammates to hit double digit homers against one team in a season. They join Yankee Legends Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth, who both hit 11 long balls against the Red Sox, back in 1927. Gary crushed 10 while Gleyber swatted 13, which broke the record for most home runs against one team by one individual player.
This 2019 Yankees team has the makings of a historically great playoff run and if it’s going to end with a championship, the Bombers will have to slug away. Nonetheless, Gleyber and Gary, joined some pretty elite company.
