In what seems to be a long waiting period, the Yankees rotation will be seeing a familiar face in the most pivotal time of the season. After being sidelined with right-shoulder inflammation and then later a strained lat, Yankees Ace Luis Severino is schedule to make his season debut against the Angels early next week.

“We’re excited to get him back,” Boone said of Severino.

Severino has been absent all season following his 4-years, $40 million extension given in the offseason. Boone said he’s optimistic the ace can make up to three starts before the regular season ends to get him caught up to speed and develop consistency.

“We have a lot of confidence in our entire staff, from our bullpen to the starters” Boone said. “How we do it [in the playoffs] will probably be a fluid situation and depend on what teams we’re playing and what the matchups are. I would say anything, at this point, is possible.”

The Yankees rotation has had its ups and downs throughout the season but seem to be getting right as October approaches. Although looking sharper, there’s still many questions as in who will start games as playoff series go. Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton look to lead the group with the team’s leader in wins Domingo German. If all goes well, Dellin Betances will be joining a very dangerous bullpen in the near future as well.

While many criticized Yankees GM Brian Cashman for not making a move for a starting pitcher, many may have a big bowl of crow to eat if Luis Severino comes back anything near his top form. The biggest acquisition in the MLB may be his talent and it’s not even close.
